Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates Brutalist High Back Side Chair, Late 1960s
$1,250.00
A striking late 1960s high back armless side chair with Brutalist base and faux-leather upholstery by Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates.
Brutalist X-shaped base features a meteor-like thick “Atomic Bronze” textured resin finish that derives its fantastic look from the inclusion of bronze powder and oxides. Effect is somewhat reminiscent of contemporaneous furniture designs by Paul Evans, especially as seen in his “Skyline” series.
Extra-high tapered seat back’s crisp lines, thin profile, and super clean off-white faux-leather upholstery displays an elegant minimalism, with its only embellishment being a pair of tufted buttons. Black dust cover on underside.
A fantastic Mid-Century Modern take on furniture from the future, a hallmark of Pearsall’s most iconic designs. While technically a side chair, it could readily serve as a lounge chair that would provide a dramatic focal point to any room.
