An uncommon 1950s Italian tall bottle-shaped Seta vase by Aldo Londi for Bitossi and retailed by Raymor.

Very handsome alternating bands of satin metallic gold and matte dark coffee glaze over a hand-incised brown pottery body. Bands are notable for their crisp, clean edges. Lip and interior are glazed in glossy dark chocolate brown.

Londi’s Seta pattern—Italian for “silk”—features a texture and technique that combine to create a dynamic effect that almost shimmers as one moves around the piece or the light source changes. Though mid-century in origin, it would also look right at home in a contemporary-styled interior.

Underside glazed white and marked by hand “95/552” and “Italy”.

Dimensions overall..:
Height: 15.25 in (38.74 cm)
Diameter: 4.63 in (11.77 cm)
Neck is 6 inches tall by 1.75 inches in diameter.

Condition: Good Wear consistent with age and use. In very good vintage condition. Some tiny/faint light marks on inside of neck; likely hard water residue. A very tiny, nearly imperceptible, and impossible to photograph hint of a glaze color variation—or perhaps an expertly done touch-up—on the lip.
