A very handsome 1970s Danish teak dining table by Gangsø Møbler with ceramic art tile top by Poul Hermann Poulsen.
Bookmatched teak with a distinctive linear grain pattern runs the length of the rounded-edge top, with perpendicularly-aligned sections at either end. (The various surfaces might appear to be a slightly different shade in some photos, but that’s only due to the opposing angles at which the grain catches the light.) Base with wide side panels atop 27.5-inch-long runners spaced 49 inches apart.
Top features a dozen eight-inch-square inset ceramic art tiles by Danish designer Poul Hermann Poulsen who, prior to working with Gangsø, was the proprietor of Faaborg Pottery. Taken as a whole, they form a striking Greek letter phi-like geometric motif in hand-applied chocolate brown, white, and black semi-matte glaze. Poulsen’s inscribed signature—“P. Hermann”—appears along the edge of a corner tile.
Stamped “Gangsø Møbler A/S — Made in Denmark” on underside of top. Overall design is similar to tiled pieces by contemporaneous Danish furniture maker Ox Art.
Comfortably seats four, with a very cozy six perhaps possible depending upon dining chair—and diner—size and arrangement. *(Please note that the two drop leaves are no longer extant, and their pull-out support elements have been removed.)

Additions or alterations made to the original: At some point prior to our acquisition, the drop leaves and their pull-out support elements at either end were removed and are no longer extant. This isn’t apparent during use, and only is when one examines or feels the underside of the table top. Wear consistent with age and use. In very good vintage condition. Leaves no longer extant as described elsewhere. Some mostly minor small scuffs, marks, and dings, primarily on edges. Scratch-like darker mark on top at one end. Black finish on white grout worn away in some spots.
