Grosfeld House Shell Console Table in Silver Leaf and White Lacquer, 1940s
$2,800.00
A stunning 1940s Hollywood Regency silver-leafed shell console table with white lacquered top and base by Grosfeld House.
Exceptionally well-sculpted and exquisitely detailed monumental cast plaster scallop shell on integrated ornamental pedestal. Professionally hand-done new silver leaf front and original silver painted back.
Bowed 1.38-inch-thick solid wood top freshly finished in white semi-gloss lacquer appears to balance upon the edge of the shell. Complemented by the equally thick white lacquered solid wood rectangular base. Discreet yet sturdy wood and metal support elements ensure the stability of this substantial 54-pound piece.
A fantastic example of one of Grosfeld House’s most iconic designs, the esteemed mid-century American furniture maker where the likes of Vladimir Kagan and Lorin Jackson got their start. It’s grotto chic that would look right at home in a stylish Palm Beach abode or seaside retreat.
