Life-Size Black Panther Sculpture, Gucci Store Custom Display Piece, circa 2005 ***SOLD***

A magnificent and rare circa 2005 life-size black panther sculpture in fiberglass. Attributed to be a custom made display piece for the Gucci flagship store in San Francisco, California. Lean, mean, and poised to make a scene, this head-turning depiction of a powerful, growling black panther on the prowl stops everyone dead in their tracks. Features a lithe, muscular form, extra-long tail, big paws and claws, and a fearsomely expressive face with bared teeth and mesmerizing clear eyes. Models what appears to be a custom made black leather and rhinestone collar attached to a seven-foot-long rope leash with matching hand strap. The absolutely iconic photoshoots one could have with this sleek and sexy beast nearly art direct themselves. Fabricated of fiberglass with a gloss black lacquer finish from head to toe. Eyes appear to be clear resin. Felt pads under each paw, with a couple extra under the front right since it’s slightly raised. Tail can be removed for transport or storage. Obtained from a former employee of the Gucci flagship store on Union Square in downtown San Francisco, who stated that it was a custom display piece from approximately 2005. We spoke with current store employees, and they were unable to corroborate due to none of them having worked there at that time. We’ve also contacted Gucci corporate, and will update this listing if we receive any additional information. Dimensions: Height: 30.75 in Width: 74 in Depth: 20 in Condition: Good Wear consistent with age and use. No breaks, cracks, or dents. Some mostly tiny nicks/chips that appear to be discreetly touched up and are hard to see; a few show white undercoat. Lacquer crazing likely from sun, mostly just on back left leg/haunch. Small gap between tail and rear.
