Maison Baguès-Style Brass Faux Bamboo Side Table with Round Glass Top, c. 1960
$2,550.00
An elegant circa 1960 Hollywood Regency Maison Baguès or Maison Jansen-style brass faux bamboo tri-leg side table, occasional table, or guéridon with round glass top.
Gleaming solid brass frame with three intersecting faux bamboo legs on ball feet and a handsomely-shaped joining element at center. Seams between each bamboo section are intentionally darker and enhance the overall effect. Brass ball at the top of each leg features a free-hanging 2.5-inch-diameter brass ring that calls to mind a similar circa 1935 brass three-legged guéridon with rings by Jean Michel Frank.
Round glass top sits upon a minimalist brass hoop. The addition of small clear rubber pads is recommended if the table will see regular use so as to prevent the top from moving. Alternately, the future owner could replace the top with a slightly smaller one that sits flush within the hoop.
We’ve seldom seen tables like this with both the faux bamboo and hanging ring design details, making it an especially uncommon and attractive piece.
