A wonderful 1950s mid-century modern Marbro Lamp Company tall Italian ceramic table lamp with turquoise textured glaze, satin black lacquered wood base, brass accents, and original shade.
Features a very uncommon and fantastically tactile turquoise-over-white glaze technique that’s best described as a fat lava and mudcrack hybrid with a densely formed popcorn-like texture. Gives it the convincing effect of being covered in fragments of actual turquoise gemstones.
On satin black lacquered turned wood base. Brass collar at bottom is matched by a tall brass stem topped by dual sockets with long chains and reddish-brown wood ball pulls. Satin black lacquered turned wood finial matches the base.
Original off-white/cream raw silk shade accented by complementary turquoise bands at top.
Retains label on stem near sockets which reads: “Marbro Original – Italian Ceramic – Old World Craftsmanship – New World Style”.
