An uncommonly large and likely bespoke circa 1900 Tudor Arts and Crafts period four-piece wrought iron fireplace tool set.

Monumental hand-wrought and hand-worked set features three tools that hang from a nearly four-foot-tall stand, with a very commanding presence and scale suitable for a castle-sized hearth. We’ve not seen anything comparable in our decades-long experience and extensive research.

Stand features a realistic raised foliate base decoration, pole with incised triangle & dot pattern and four-point twist, and cap with dot-incised triangular-cut skirt and three tool hooks anchored by hammered heads. Pole has a filigreed hook near the top, and cap has two open holes, the original purposes for which we can only speculate.

Poker, shovel, and broom each with a nicely-crafted heat-dissipating spiral cage handle and a three-point twist in their shaft that echo that of the stand. Shovel with a decorative applied element. Broom with filigreed elements, incised triangle & dot accents like the pole and cap, and stiff natural black bristles.

Dimensions overall. Height: 45.75 in Diameter: 12 in
Poker is 41 in. long, shovel is 40.5 in. long, and broom including bristles is 39 in. long.

Condition: GoodWear consistent with age and use. In very good antique condition. Has a typical amount of naturally acquired patina that gives the originally blackish iron a dark brownish finish over much of the piece. Gently cleaned and oiled from top to bottom to preserve the handsome character.
