Pair of Antique Chinese Rosewood Side Tables from Hong Kong, circa 1920 ***SOLD***

A very handsome pair of circa 1920s Chinese rosewood side or end tables made in Hong Kong during the earlier years of its 99 year lease to the United Kingdom. Intricately hand-carved apron features a nicely executed cloud motif on all four sides, with each table having a double happiness character on either side that differs somewhat between the two tables. Wonderfully rich tone and lively figuring throughout, with the tops having complementary grain patterns. Occasional small, natural inclusions in the sculpted solid wood frames speak to their authentic character. Stamped on underside “Made in Hong Kong”. Dimensions: Height: 23.75 in Width: 30 in Depth: 16 in Condition: Good Wear consistent with age and use. In great condition for their age. A couple corners have very minor separation at seams from wood naturally drying and shrinking over the years. A couple fingerprint-size spots of what looks like slightly glossier clear varnish on sides.
