A delightful pair of 1961 Norwegian Conform tray tables by Hermann Bongard for Plus in very rare beech with solid blue Catherineholm enameled steel tops.

Designed in 1961 by notable Norwegian industrial and graphic designer, glass artist, and painter Hermann Bongard (b. 1921–1998). Made at the Plus workshop in Fredrikstad, Norway for just over a year, these diminutive tables feature solid beech frames with arced lines and contrasting finger joinery.

Eye-catching enameled steel tops in vibrant solid cobalt blue on both sides are by iconic Halden, Norway enamelware company Catherineholm. These tables were produced in three colorways, and almost always had a two-tone geometric pattern on the top.

On chrome-finished steel rod bases that can be collapsed flat for compact and tidy storage within the top. Branded “Plus Norway” with logo on inside bottom edge of frame.

Our extensive research has been unable to find any other vintage Conform tables in beech, and only a couple with solid blue tops, making this pair a very rare example of a highly collectible Scandinavian modern design.
