Pair of Michael Taylor-Style Pale Pink Plaster Spiral Column Floor Lamps, 1980s
$2,200.00
An impressive pair of 1980s pale pink plaster spiral column floor lamps with shades, done in the manner of Michael Taylor for Kreiss.
Substantial column with a tightly-twisted spiral body, Roman-style multi-band capital, and broad stepped base. Deeply and organically textured Tuscan stucco-like layer hand-crafted over a smooth plaster core. We’ve been unable to find any other examples with the exact same striking form. Further setting the pair apart from their similarly-styled contemporaries is the tinted plaster’s very pretty shade of super pale pink blush, a finish we’ve not found on them elsewhere. It’s an incredibly delicate color that’s difficult to capture in camera—the uniform warm pink tone can take on a very subtle hint of peach under certain lighting conditions.
With original brass stem, socket, and fittings. Includes original light and warm ecru empire-style shade. 31.5 inch-long cord appears to be original as well.
