Pair of Thonet Black Lacquered Bentwood Armchairs with Upholstered Seats, 1940s
$1,800.00
A very dapper pair of uncommon 1940s Thonet bentwood birch armchairs with freshly redone black lacquered finish and white upholstery.
Handsomely crafted frame of flat bentwood elements distinguished by cantilevered arms that split off from the wide back legs. Comfortably shaped seat back with curved center support. Sleek lines and clean design are especially striking when viewed from the side.
Refinished in hand-polished satin black spray lacquer over the original birch veneer. Reupholstered in thickly textured basket weave white cotton upholstery with new padding.
