Poul Jensen for Selig Triangular Teak and Woven Cane “Guitar Pick” Table, 1960s

A fantastic 1960s Danish triangular teak and woven cane two-tier “guitar pick” side table or occasional table by Poul Jensen and imported by Selig.

Classic Scandinavian modern piece by one of Denmark’s most important designers and makers. Teak Reuleaux triangle top with curved sides and a smoothly sculpted lip detail around the edge that transitions to open rounded corners. Stands on a trio of solid teak slightly tapered dowel legs.

Lower tier or shelf of hand-woven cane is all original and without any breaks. It’s perfect for stowing reading materials or electronic devices so that the handsome top remains clutter-free.

Round Danish flag-motif red and white enameled brass badge on underside of top reads “Made and Finished in Denmark” and “Imported by Selig.”

Poul Thorsbjerg Jensen (b. 1922–2006) was part of CJ Møbelsnedkeri, a company founded by his father, Christian Jensen. Poul Jensen is best known for creating the iconic Z Chair in 1957, considered by many to be the defining symbol of mid-century Danish modern furniture design. He also developed and produced pieces by the likes of fellow Danish design luminaries Ib Kofod Larsen and Kai Kristiansen.

Condition: Good
Wear consistent with age and use. In great vintage condition. Top: minimal signs of use; a few tiny/faint marks/lines; a couple small areas barely lighter in tone, likely natural. Legs: a few tiny marks. Shelf: no breaks in cane; some typical naturally occurring darker/lighter spots.
