Stiffel Saucer Shade Enameled Metal and Brass Three-Light Floor Lamp, 1950s
$2,450.00
A very striking and uncommon 1950s Stiffel mid-century modern atomic-style floor lamp with large saucer shade and three shaded uplights on brass rods and black metal base.
Twenty-four-inch-diameter saucer shade on positionable ball joint finished in dark red enamel with white underside that uniformly bounces the light from a trio of dark red, white, and dark green shaded bulbs below. Switch on white shade allows for one, two, or three original ceramic socket lights to be turned on or off as needed.
Shades are mounted atop three forty-inch-long criss-crossed slender brass rods anchored in the corners of a heavy triangular cast metal base with slanted sides and matte black finish.
A saucer-less brass shade variant of this lamp with a Stiffel label is described in another online listing as being by noted Finnish lighting designer Paavo Viljo Tynell, but we’ve thus far been unable to corroborate that attribution.
Dimensions listed are overall including finial.
Base is H 1.25 in. x W 10.25 in. per side.
Smaller shades are H 6.75 in. x Dia 4.5 in. at top.
