Sven Ivar Dysthe for Dokka Møbler Teak and Nickel Armless Lounge Chair, 1960s
$2,200.00
A rare teak and nickel armless version of the model 1000 AF lounge chair by Sven Ivar Dysthe for Dokka Møbler of Norway. Designed in 1959, this example dates from the 1960s with ultrasuede reupholstery from the 1970s.
Frame features substantial solid teak stretchers that contrast nicely with nickel-plated tubular steel uprights. Metal buttons inset in the teak provide an attractive functional accent. Minimalist yet inviting gently curved seat with a sleek, thin profile is finished in ecru ultrasuede with matching piping. (Upholstery color is somewhat lighter in person than in most of the photos.)
An incredibly handsome and forward looking aesthetic and mix of materials for its time that would look equally at home alongside vintage Scandinavian modern pieces as it would amongst the best of contemporary designs.
