An early Karl Johan-period Swedish Biedermeier lyre-motif small birch table with drawer.
Bookmatched birch veneer top with ebonized edge, and birch veneer sides and drawer with diamond keyhole. (Key no longer extant.) Originally designed as a sewing table, interior features two spool racks, each above a pair of diminutive drawers that retain their tiny bone bead pulls.
Base comprised of a pair of visually bold stylized lyres with ebonized finish and original wood “strings”. They’re joined by a broad birch stretcher that matches the top.
Overall dimensions are H 30.5 in. x W 23.75 in. x D 17.75 in., height to bottom of drawer is 25.5 in. In very good antique condition. Top with faint water-related spots and some superficial indentation marks. Light wear to ebonized edges. A couple tiny nicks/marks to sides. Ebonized base with a scratch, a couple scuffs, and some old wormholes.
