A large and very handsome 1982 walnut coffee with inset glass multi-pane top by Ashland, Oregon artist, woodworker, and furniture designer Thomas Saydah.

Hand-sculpted solid walnut frame with gorgeous grain and graceful cabriole legs. Window-like top comprised of six W 17.13 in. x D 14.63 in. inset glass panes. Inscribed “T.H. Saydah”, dated “5-82”, and numbered “#1” on underside in the artist’s hand.

As Saydah is known for specializing in high quality custom furniture design and fabrication for individual clients, it’s probable that this is a one-of-a-kind piece made early in his career, with him having started his business in 1980.

From Saydah’s LinkedIn “About” section:

“At a very young age I began making things. From forts to knives to go carts to rebuilding bicycles and engines, my hands on approach to design and problem solving naturally evolved to furniture building and repair. From my early environmental roots in the mid 70s it has always been important to me to ruse what I have and to try to improve upon what I know, hence my passion for building upon my design experience through experimentation and refinement. I bring almost 40 years of building experience to every new challenge.”
