Van Keppel and Green for Brown-Saltman Convertible Dining/Coffee Table, 1953
$2,950.00
A 1953 mid-century modern mahogany dual-purpose “Camel” dining table and coffee table designed by Hendrik Van Keppel and Taylor Green for Brown-Saltman, with materials crafted by Jasper Wood Products Co.
Notable for its clean, timeless lines and clever design featuring camel-like legs with brass hinges and swiveling brass locking pins that allow it to be quickly and easily converted between dining table height and coffee table height as one’s hosting needs require. Finished in very handsomely-grained light mahogany veneer throughout.
Affixed to underside are two very seldom seen Jasper Wood Products Co. paper labels with handwritten Brown-Saltman attribution, date, model number, and production details. Stamped on underside is “86 TABLE”.
Dimensions:
Height: 28 in (for dining table configuration.)
Width: 66 in
Depth: 34 in
Height of coffee table configuration is 14.88 inches.
Condition: Good Refinished.
Wear consistent with age and use. In very good refinished vintage condition. Some tiny nicks and marks. Two places on top where veneer issues were retouched that are a bit less noticeable in person than in photos: 2.25 in. x 2 in. spot on edge; a smaller spot on corner with a nick.
