Vintage American Large Painted Steel Industrial Work Table, c. 1940

A circa 1940 American six-foot-long painted steel work table or work bench with fantastic industrial character.

Features authentically earned vintage character from top to bottom. Patriotic red, white, & blue (and a bit of battleship grey) paint, and the areas where it’s been scuffed up or worn away, tell a great story about the countless hours of hard work that this mid-century table put in over the decades.

This is most apparent on the top, where striking remnants of brilliant red frame a broad swath of dark brown patinated, mottled, and marked steel. Drilled holes hint at the various vices, devices, and tools that once were mounted on it.

Each leg has cut-outs for dual electrical outlets, as well as flanged feet should one wish to mount it to the floor. All in all, it looks great without even trying, and is certain to be the only work table of its kind that’s exactly like it.

Recently finished in clear satin lacquer to help preserve and protect its handsome and desirable appearance and condition.
